HiveTalk Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 July 2026
HiveTalk is a communication platform built around privacy, user control, and transparency. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over your data.
By using HiveTalk, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
HiveTalk only collects the information needed to provide and operate the service.
Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect:
Your username
Your email address
Optional profile details, such as your country, birthday, or any other optional information you choose to provide during sign-up or while using your account
You do not have to provide optional profile information unless you choose to.
Messages
HiveTalk stores messages sent in chat rooms and one-to-one direct messages.
Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted. This includes text messages, images, files, voice notes, stickers, and other content sent inside a direct message.
Encryption and decryption of direct-message content take place on users’ devices. HiveTalk stores and transmits encrypted direct-message content but does not have routine access to its readable contents.
Chat rooms are not end-to-end encrypted.
End-to-end encryption does not hide all technical information. HiveTalk may process limited information needed to operate direct messages, such as the accounts involved, timestamps, delivery information, encrypted message data, and encrypted attachment references.
Recipients may still save, copy, record, screenshot, forward, report, or otherwise share content they receive.
Uploads
Uploads sent inside direct messages are end-to-end encrypted.
Uploads sent in chat rooms are not end-to-end encrypted.
Uploads cannot be accessed by other users unless they are part of the room or one-to-one direct message where the upload was shared.
Polls
Polls are currently available in chat rooms only.
Polls are not encrypted. They can only be seen by users who are in the room where the poll was posted.
2. Information We Do Not Currently Collect
HiveTalk does not currently collect or store the following in our database:
IP address logs
Browser or device information
Basic error logs
HiveTalk also does not:
Sell personal data
Train AI models on private messages
Build advertising profiles from private conversations
Perform invasive behavioral tracking
Scan private conversations
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
Create and manage your account
Allow you to send and receive messages
Allow you to join rooms and direct messages
Display profile information you choose to provide
Provide moderation and safety tools
Handle reports and abuse complaints
Maintain the security and reliability of HiveTalk
Comply with legal obligations where required
4. Message Deletion
If you delete a message, it is hard deleted.
This means the message is removed from HiveTalk’s active systems rather than simply being hidden from view.
Messages may still temporarily exist in database backups until those backups expire.
Deleting a message or account cannot remove copies that another user has already saved, copied, recorded, screenshotted, forwarded, or otherwise retained.
5. Account Deletion and Deactivation
Account deletion requests are handled manually by the HiveTalk team.
To request deletion, email [email protected]. You must be the account owner, and HiveTalk may ask you to verify ownership before processing the request.
Once a valid deletion request has been reviewed and completed, the account is deleted from HiveTalk’s active systems.
Deactivated accounts are kept indefinitely unless:
You delete the account
An admin deletes the account
You request deletion of the account
6. Data Retention
HiveTalk keeps your account data and user content indefinitely unless it is deleted by you, deleted by an admin, or deleted following a valid request from you.
Current retention practices:
Active account data: Kept until deleted
Deactivated accounts: Kept until deleted
Deleted accounts: Deleted from active systems after a valid manual deletion request is reviewed and completed
Deleted messages: Hard deleted
Database backups: Usually retained for around 30–40 days
Moderation evidence: No fixed retention period currently
Moderation evidence does not currently have a set retention time. This may change in the future as HiveTalk develops clearer moderation policies.
7. Moderation and Reports
Public rooms may be moderated.
Reports may be reviewed by HiveTalk admins.
Message Reports
If a user reports a message through HiveTalk’s built-in report system, admins will only see the encrypted message string, not the real readable message.
Admins can see the reason the message was reported.
Because reported messages remain encrypted in the admin report panel, you may need to provide additional evidence if you want admins to review the actual content of a message.
To report a message in a way that allows admins to see what happened, you can email:
You should include an image or screenshot of the message and explain why you are reporting it.
Account Reports
If a user reports an account, admins may be able to view the reported account and the reason why the account was reported.
8. Anti-Spam and Abuse Prevention
HiveTalk has a built-in anti-spam system.
This system is local to HiveTalk’s codebase and is currently generous. At the moment, users can send up to 2 messages per second, but this limit may be changed by admins at any time to protect the service.
HiveTalk does not currently use rate limits on all features.
HiveTalk does not currently use CAPTCHAs. If CAPTCHAs are added again in the future, HiveTalk intends to use Cloudflare Turnstile.
9. Cookies
HiveTalk only uses necessary cookies.
These cookies are required for the site to function, such as keeping you logged in and maintaining your session.
HiveTalk does not use cookies for invasive tracking, advertising, or advertising profiling.
10. Third-Party Services
HiveTalk aims to keep as much as possible hosted directly by HiveTalk.

This includes text messages, images, files, voice notes, stickers, and other content sent inside a direct message.
Encryption and decryption take place on users’ devices. HiveTalk stores and transmits encrypted direct-message content but does not have routine access to its readable contents.
Chat rooms, room uploads, and polls are not end-to-end encrypted.
End-to-end encryption does not prevent recipients from saving, copying, recording, screenshotting, forwarding, reporting, or otherwise sharing content they receive.
HiveTalk does not currently describe audio calls, video calls, or screen sharing as end-to-end encrypted.
13. Legal Requests
HiveTalk may disclose information only when legally required.
If disclosure is not legally required, HiveTalk will not voluntarily hand over your data.
If HiveTalk is legally required to provide information, we will only provide the information required by law.

If major changes are made, HiveTalk may notify users through the site or by another reasonable method.
The latest version of this Privacy Policy will always apply to your use of HiveTalk.
